Hire is where we started, but most of our floor space is given over to retail: jackets and trousers, base layers, gloves, goggles, helmets, skis, boots, accessories. Whatever you find missing on day two of your holiday is on our shelves, and so is the kit that lasts ten years.
We do not try to stock everything on the market. The brands we keep on our shelves are the ones that last the season here, at 2,300 metres, on a ski area where people ski from morning till evening. Our teams wear and use them, which is still the most reliable way to know whether a jacket really breathes and whether a glove stands up to the cold.
Two brand stores complete our shops: the Fusalp store in the Peclet arcade and the Quiksilver Roxy store in the Caron arcade.
The question comes up every winter, and the answer depends on you. For one week a year, hiring is simpler: recent equipment, servicing included, nothing to carry. Once you ski several weeks a year and know which ski you want underfoot, buying starts to make sense. Boots are a different matter: they are the most personal piece of equipment, and often the first purchase worth making.
Every season, we select the best mountain equipment and clothing for our ski shops in Val Thorens.
