The machine planes the sidewalls, grinds the base on two stones, sharpens the edges with a ceramic disc, then polishes them at the same angle. It can also give an edge an angle that varies along the length of the ski: more bite underfoot, softer at the tip and tail. The French, Austrian and US teams work with Wintersteiger.
